Olivier Lancelot is recognized as one of the best specialists of the difficult and spectacular stride piano style. He has been appearing in France and worldwide since 1989.
The sound of stride commands attention and, during a concert, immediately captivates
the audience by its power, its great vitality, and the amount of virtuosity that it requires. This brilliant style
of playing utilizes the entire piano range, from bass to treble.
The left hand must keep solid time and act as a foundation for the right hand which laces endless variations.
This style is perfect for solo piano or acting as a rhythm section for a small band, because of the left hand which
contains bass, harmony and rhythm.
But enough with hazardous descriptions: the audio clips page contains a few examples.
